    I have done Retargeting for dozens of campaigns and one factor that stands out is what I call the research lag. If your niche is in something that people often take some time to decide before buying then you should use Retargeting but if your niche is something that people buy on the spot then retargeting is a waste of money. for example someone looking to buy window blinds usually surfs the net for awhile before deciding to buy but if your water heater goes out your most likely looking to get it fixed right away so Retargeting will not work in this case.

    Not only that... but you point out the single most important thing to know about a target profile and/or niche in some cases... do they fit into information gatherers, researchers, or buyers?

    info people are looky-loo's you can forget about.

    Buyers are where you can make immediate sales but the competition for keywords for ranking, PPC or Media Buys can be fierce.

    Researchers are what I call the Goldilocks segment... just right if you have a bit of patience and have the skills and methods to build a loyal following in a specific mailing list that takes them on the path to becoming Buyers
